Why Privacy of the Mind?

September 16th, 2007  | Categories: Music

In short, a growing dissatisfaction with my previous blog and a strong desire to focus on more serious writing. My motorcycling blog came into being to document my adventures on two wheels. Over time I found myself writing more and more on topics that had nothing to do with riding. The earlier blog was a facet of me, but not the whole me. I will continue to post updates there, but Privacy of the Mind will become my new personal journal.

The concept and title for the blog came about late one night when I was shuffling through my collection of Eve 6 tunes and came across the song, “How Much Longer.” This song contains a line referring to the “privacy of the mind.” Suddenly things clicked and I knew I had a hook to hang my new blog on. A quick check determine the domain was available and that same night I had all the pieces in place to begin building a new Wordpress blog.

“How Much Longer” by Eve 6

Drag this neurotic to hysterics
Leave him balked and unfulfilled
Holding inside outwardly patient ’till the time he’ll call it
Alurring exotic twisted hero
Leaving him more lonely still
He waits around he’s spun around and left without the power to stop it

Peers don’t know what they can’t see
They can’t see inside of me
It’s sickening how comforting the privacy of the mind can be

How much longer will I try before I realize
I’m desperate in the situation that I’m in again
I’m exhausting yet another topic
I’ve exhausted frequently with no regrets
Oh yeah… with no regrets

Abstruse and lacking rational but making so much sense some how
A stone has blocked my hourglass
No progress made no time’s run out
I’d almost rather have the latter
Save myself with sad defeat
A stone just broke my hourglass
I peel the skin that had me trapped

Very catchy, and a nice idea to hang a blog on.
