Guilty Pleasures

Guilty Pleasures

Hopefully everyone has them. You know, those silly things you indulge yourself with that are frivolous and maybe not so good for you. But heck, everyone needs a little self-pampering from time to time, right? Right?! Here are a few of mine…

Stephanie Plum
I loooove Janet Evanovich’s “Stephanie Plum” series. I love the writing, it’s light and humorous and filled with fascinating characters. Some might label it “pulp fiction” but I don’t care. It’s a guilty pleasure for me because it’s so out of step with all of the other reading I do.

Rum and Coke
Mmmm… ok, I’m not really a big drinker. I can’t stand beer and can barely tolerate wine. When I do drink, my weapon of choice is the classic, iconic, Rum and Coke. I’ve dabbled with various rums but I always come home to Mount Gay Eclipse. Smoooooth and tasty. Guilty pleasure because it leaves me going right for the hard stuff when drinking socially. I generally stop at one so I guess that’s not so bad.

Zebrahead
How many of you have even heard of Zebrahead? This 90’s group was actually something of a trend setter, among the first groups to blend rock and hiphop. Their music is light, silly pop but I find it fun. It’s great “pick me up” music. Their lyrics are pure fluff most of the time but what the heck, music doesn’t always have to have deep meaning to be fun. Besides it’s hard to work Donald Trump references into a song. Guilty pleasure because I’m probably their sole remaining fan!

Zebrahead’s Get Back

Ok… your turn! Spill, what are your guilty pleasures?

    My guilty pleasures:
Hot tub, drumming, and amaretto hot chocolate.

I love that photo! I like Sailor Jerry rum and coke.

I’d say one of my guilty pleasures is the time I spend tinkering with photos.

Ah. We did both do alcohol references in our posts. lol
The guitar riff in that song reminds of the MJ song … um, lyrics Annie, are you ok, are you okay, Annie? lol
They sounds very 80’s to my ear.

Are the novels crime dramas or who-done-its or what? :)

“Stephanie Plum” novels are more crime dramas, but with a heavy dose of humor and romance really.

As far as rum goes, PYRAT is my favorite, but if I mix it with something, Dr. Pepper gives it a little extra zing.
Cheesecake. Being diabetic, sweets are bas, and most of the time I can avoud them, but a good cheesecake!
Louis L’Amore Westerns. They just remind me of growing up over in Idaho.

Oooooo I might like those novels, I’ll have to give them a try. I’m with M, I’ll have to make this into a post of my own. A great idea for this week, since I’ve been a little quiet on my blog lately. I do believe I ran out of things to say. Who knew that was possible! LOL I’ve never been able to stomach rum and coke, but rum is my alchohol of choice. LOVE the stuff! I don’t recall that band, but given the era, I bet I’d recognize a song or two..
