Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall - Oliver Goldsmith
After a busy, non-stop weekend I had the opportunity to slow down and relax a bit on Sunday when Marianna and I met up for a little photo outing around the Port of Seattle’s Harbor Island. Marianna had a time constraint so I picked out three public viewpoints owned by the Port of Seattle and we agreed to meet up at Alki.
I dig this song, my favorite off Paramore’s latest album!
You know, the cumulative pressures of the last week or so are really weighing me down. Harshing my Zen. Bumming me out. *sigh* I think the biggest problem is that a couple of events have left me with the realization that a significant number of the people I’ve been counting as friends really only care about me when I’m useful to them.
My son introduced me to Dead Like Me this weekend while he was over. This was originally a series on Showtime and then ran on the SciFi Channel. I fell in love with the premise immediately. The dark humor meshes perfectly with my world-view. Sadly it was canceled after two seasons.
Shephard tagged me with this meme. it’s apparently not enough that he’s influencing my eating habits and trying to temp me into joining his Jamba Juice cult. Now he’s interrogating me as well. Fine, so be it…
Lisa posted a clip from Animoto on her blog a while back, I’ve been playing with it a bit and finally went ahead and paid for a 1-year subscription. It’s a neat way to set your photos to music without doing a lot of work.
West Seattle has become my “go to” part of Seattle when I want to get out with camera in hand and not spend any more time driving that necessary. I can be there in just about 15 minutes and avoid traffic the whole way if necessary. Makes for a pleasant outing, like today!
This has been a rather uneventful week. Not that I’m complaining mind you. A little peace and quiet is a good thing! I covered a couple of movie screenings this week, both of which I liked for the most part. I also had a conversation to clear up some concerns I’ve been having with this drama group I’m working with now. And there’s always music!
I’ve had the most vivid dreams the last few nights. That’s a little unusual for me. I don’t normally wake up with memories of my dreams but I have the last two mornings. They’ve been strange dreams.
I had an opportunity on Friday to attend the World Cyber Games grand finals as an accredited press photographer. I attended with the friend that got me in, he needed photos for a project he had cooking. It’s a fascinating event. It was just luck it happened to be in Seattle this year. Next year the finals are in Germany. Over 700 players from 70 different countries attended this event to face off and select the best players in a variety of computer and console-based games. But, it wasn’t the games we spent time chatting about as we toured the event.
