A Non-Traditional Thanksgiving

As I mentioned in my last post, my plan for Thanksgiving was to hop on the bike and spend the day riding. The weather wound up being fantastic and I had a great ride. You can read about the ride itself over on my motorcycling blog. Read on for the non-motorcycling bits…

Thankful

Even though I tend to be a non-traditional kind of guy, I’ve still spent some time lately thinking about things that make me thankful. Seems like a good time of the year to do that. I decided to compile a list so I could look back at it when I need to, as I recognize that I often lose sight of these things.

Laughing With Kathy

Saturday evening I dragged Marianna into Seattle to see Kathy Griffin at the Paramount Theater. I know not everyone is into Kathy, but I’ve been a huge fan of hers forever. I’ve never seen her live prior to this, but I’ve seen her stand-up routine on cable so had some idea what to expect. I suspect Marianna and many others didn’t! If you only watch her Bravo show “My Life on the D-List” you might not realize how raunchy she can be!

People Bug Me

People seldom believe me when I tell them this, but I really, *really* have a strong anti-social streak. Generally, individual people are fine. And certainly, once I’ve gotten to know someone a little I become more comfortable with them. But people in large numbers, or strangers? They freak me out. It’s why I can never run for office, I would wreak havoc on the faceless masses.

Who Writes Anymore?

The truly bizarre thing is that I just had a conversation about this topic with my ex, while we were at a student conference for my daughter this past week. Both kids seem to have inherited my own sloppy, carefree handwriting. My response when she complained that the kids need to improve their handwriting was, “Who writes anymore?” I can’t remember the last time I wrote more than a few sparse notes during a meeting. Normally I type and I’m sure it has effected my handwriting negatively! So, when Lisa posted this meme, well I had to try it for myself! The results are mixed, but accurate on some points. Interesting!
