As I mentioned in my last post, my plan for Thanksgiving was to hop on the bike and spend the day riding. The weather wound up being fantastic and I had a great ride. You can read about the ride itself over on my motorcycling blog.
After I got home, parked the bike and stripped out of all my riding gear and insulation layers I fired up my charcoal grill and got ready for a little feasting of my own. I don’t mind traditional Thanksgiving fare, but it’s a little excessive just for myself and I clearly wasn’t feeling overly social this year. Instead, I picked up a really nice New York steak for the grill and then sauteed green beens and made a batch of black beans and rice to go with. All together a satisfying meal. I even picked up a slice of carrot cake (my favorite cake) at the grocery store the day before for desert.
I avoided watching sports too, another tradition I tend to ignore on a regular basis. Instead I queued up the cult classic “Repo Man” and settled in for a relaxing evening in front of the TV. I admit, probably not the first movie that comes to mind for holiday viewing but it suited me just fine!
So how was your Thanksgiving?

Mmmm, carrot cake– I love it! I’ve had quite a few non-traditional Thanksgivings. I say do whatever feels right at the time. One year in Hawaii we had seafood for Thanksgiving dinner then went to the beach.

“Repo Man” is one of my favorites. So disjointed and irreverent it is almost like real life, except for the space aliens.
We were driving around yesterday out around Carnation/Duval, and I thought about you being out on your bike. A little chilly for a long ride unless you had some good weather gear on.

I really need to read blogs AFTER I eat. Right now, I’m starving!

Sounds like a wonderful dinner to me. I’ve never seen Repo Man, I guess I’ll have to add it to mylist. Our Thanksgiving was very nice, just the four of us, so somewhat quiet..

Thanksgiving… we made Jambalaya.
And we watched videos, and cleaned out every closet in the house and decorated.
I think your TD sounded just fine!
