Welcome to Seattle

What do you think about when you think about Seattle? You do think about Seattle right? Right?! Things that come to mind for me include rain, the Puget Sound, ferry boats, the Space Needle, coffee, seafood, things like that. I was reading the paper today (online of course) when I came across a fascinating article that introduced me to an new aspect of Seattle. I’m quite excited about it honestly.

According to an article in the Seattle P-I, Seattle is becoming quite the destination for artisan chocolates. I never would have guessed that. Clearly, I need to acquaint myself with this culinary side of my adopted home don’t you think?

Fortunately most of the better known places are web savvy so you can order right online. Given that Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought I’d share links to the places listed in the article and a few more that I discovered elsewhere.

It’d be ok to buy myself chocolate for Valentine’s Day don’t you think?!

I think of all the things you mentioned when I think about Seattle, but I also think about Chocolate. Some of the best chocolate I ever had came from out your way. I can HIGHLY recommend Boehms. Check into the champagne truffles, cognac truffles, espresso truffles, Grand Marnier, Kahlua, and Cappachino truffles. They have each a very small hint of the alchohol mentioned, but the flavours are OH SO RICH and decadent! There was a little town I would go to on the waterfront on the Bangor side of the sound..I can’t remember the name of the town darnit, it always escapes me, but they had an art gallery and some antique stores, a rubber stamp store, a nautical store, and Boehms chocolates. I’d window shop the antiques, buy a couple of rubberstamp supplies, purchase 3 chocolates, and walk the water front. There was a trail along a park and a float plane I’d love to watch take off and land and I’d sit and savour my chocolates before heading home. It would be my perfect day. I loved that place. If I ever go back the only way I could ever make it better would be to ride that float plane…something I never had the courage to do before, but would in a heartbeat now AND ask for a turn at the rudder! LOL

I can also vouch for Seattles and Frans chocolates. :) and yes..perfectly ok to buy yourself some chocolates for valentines day!

Hey, I think about Seattle all of the time. :)

Didn’t know that it’s a chocolate-center, but I love that idea. Coffee and chocolate, I’m in heaven.

It’s more than OK to buy yourself chocolates on any day of the year.

I remember Boehm’s. B had a friend who worked there.

Do any of these make Chocolate Cherry Fudge, cuz if not, I’d just be wasting my time. lol

If I buy Mrs A. chocolates for Valentines she curses at me while stuffing them in her mouth. She makes no sense with chocolate drool dripping down her chin.
