It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult - Seneca
I had time to do a little thinking while on the road this past weekend. That’s not always a good thing. I tend to do better when I’m busy enough that I don’t have time for my mind to wander. Driving cross country on two lane roads with sparse traffic doesn’t take much attention. So […]
After another long day behind the wheel, I am once again comfortably ensconced in the bunker I fondly call home. Safe from society, the weather and harmful UV rays. I have to confess that while I enjoyed briefly visiting a place that featured warm sunshine and blue skies, I may have shed a brief tear as […]
Today was Boomershoot day. We were up bright and early for breakfast and then the drive out to the range where the event is held. Talk about a beautiful drive. That could be the subject of an entire other post. It’s gorgeous country, I can’t wait to head back out to this part of […]
Our drive to Orofino, Idaho today was pleasant and uneventful, just the way you want it right? I did the driving since we took my smaller, fuel-efficient car while Mike talked and then later, slept. I didn’t mind, that gave me control of the iPod. Managed to squeeze in a few photos on the way […]
Today has been a flurry of preparation. Laundry, packing, running to the bank, etc. Bright and early tomorrow I’m hitting the road for Orofino, Idaho. What’s in Orofino you ask? Damifino, never been there. A buddy and I are heading over for an event called Boomershoot. A testosterone-laden gathering billed as a “long range, high-power, precision […]
Don’t look for any kind of thread or plot in this post, you won’t find one! Today you get “stream of consciousness” blogging! It was nice being able to slouch around the house in sweats today. Oh I worked, but since I didn’t have to go out I didn’t bother getting dressed beyond the basics. I […]
I’m tired today. I had to go into work the last two days for a series of all-day corporate planning workshops. The kind where they bring in food so you have no excuse to leave and take a break. The kind that suck the life out of you. Pile that on top of a little too […]
I had to drive into Seattle today to cover a movie screening for another writer who was out of town. An early screening for a change, 4pm press-only showing. Those are nice. Not crowded, out early. When I pulled out of the parking garage the sun had come out and the world was warm and bright. I had to pull out my sunglasses for a change. I took advantage of the opportunity to roll open the sunroof and crank up the stereo. It was a nice interlude.
Well, despite some swelling I do *feel* fine so I’m going to give riding a try today. I was able to get my boot on and that was the final determining factor. Just posting here as an FYI of where I’m at in case something happens. About to head up to Edmonds, WA then take the ferry across to Kingston then ride across the Hood Canal and down to Gig Harbor for lunch. Back later today after a short, cool and probably wet ride!
Update: Home safe and sound. Great ride. Ankle/leg did ok. Only a few sprinkles and some great twisties!
