Random Synapses Firing

I’ve had difficulty mustering the energy to blog in any depth lately. I have no problem coming up with things I’d like to blog about, I just never get around to posting. So instead, you get this… a brain dump of things occupying my mind lately.

It’s funny how my leisure activities tend to change with the seasons. Now that the weather is getting cold and crisp, I find myself drawn back to the range. I didn’t shoot much over the summer months, which is unusual as it’s normally a weekly ritual for me. I find it relaxing because the focus necessary to be precise helps clear my mind. I’ve gone weekly the last couple of weeks, and I think I’ll be keeping it up for the foreseeable future.

Theater seems to be forcing its way back into my life lately also. I’ve seen more shows in the last month than I have in the previous year I think. This past Friday, the kids and I went to see the drama group at Matt’s school put on a performance of A Bad Year For Tomatoes. Very funny material, I enjoyed the show quite a bit. The performances were spotty, but overall very good for high school level drama. I’d love to direct a production of this show myself, I think it would be hilarious and I do love a good comedy.

In other news, I’m still on track to be homeless at the end of the month. Literally. With basically two weeks remaining in the month I still don’t have a new home lined up. I’m waiting to hear whether or not one house I’m hoping for is going to be available in time. I’ve lined up storage for my stuff and temporary accommodations if necessary for December and January. That way, if the house falls through at least I’ll have a roof over my head and time to find someplace else to live. I’m not actually all that concerned. My biggest worry is internet access until I have a new place of my own. Besides my blogging and what not, I pretty much depend on the internet for work so I’ll have to get that sorted one way or the other. I’ve got my fingers crossed on the house, it’s the easiest and best option if it works out.

And with that, I’ll leave you with a couple of tracks from a band called OSI. This is mostly to get Stacie off my back, she’s trying to make me feel guilty because I didn’t post any music last Friday. So here Stacie, listen to these until THIS Friday!

If you are forced to take an Internet hiatus, you will be missed.

Oh gosh, Mike. I hope you find a house soon! It’s a very scary situation, but I’m glad you have a back up plan. And yes, it MUST include internet!

Hope the housing situation turns itself around soon! Two weeks will fly by! I suppose if you have to, you could go and look so very official with a laptop at the Panera or Starbucks!

I took my kids to a children’s theater production last week. I sat and watched and thought “Hmmm…I could probably do that.”

Then I remembered my raging fear of public speaking, crowds, and attention, so yeah. Another dream dashed! Ha!

well, I GUESS finding a place to live does trump posting new music for me to listen to on Mondays….I *Guess* sigh…

    :P

Hope it all works out soon. Yay for getting to the range, that’s cool!

The range sounds like such a great way to clear your mind. I would love to give it a try.

I really hope the house thing works out soon. And no internet? Gasp! That would be bad for work and besides, we’d really miss you too.

The range sounds very cool! It is a good way to de-stress and to sometimes bring clarity! I really hope the house comes through for you. My apartment is looking better and better every day…the thought of moving again makes me cringe, so I will probably sign another lease.

And by the way—Now don’t go away! I love your blog…brain dumps and all!

Yikes, homeless with no internet doesn’t bear thinking about! Fingers crossed that the house comes through while you still have time. Talk about a cliffhanger.
