Swingtown
Have you heard of this new show on CBS? It’s called Swingtown. I accidentally watched it last night. Oddly enough, I really liked it!
It’s a period piece set in the 70’s. The official description says that it, “traces two generations of friends and neighbors as they forge intimate connections and explore new freedoms during the culturally transformative decade of the 1970s. It portrays the ever-shifting “swing” of the pendulum that reflected the change in America’s collective value system — morally, politically and socially.”
Yeah baby… smut! But well done and not too smutty, it is CBS after all. I think I’ll follow it for a few episodes and see where it goes. The acting in the first episode was pretty good overall and the story seems interesting. You can watch the pilot at the official website if you missed it.

I saw the promo ads for that and wondered how they’d make it not smutty!
This is on CBS?!?! I figured it would be on HBO!

I’ll check it out - I saw the promo and thought it had potential to go either way, sort of like the first time I saw a promo for Big Love. But if it’s well written and well acted, any topic can be solid entertainment!
I’m shocked I missed the actual airing of this show, based on how often I saw a promo for it! I may have to give it a look…though I’m trying to resist the siren’s call of yet another TV show to get hooked on!
That sounds very brave for CBS, considering it’s usually the channel for the McGuyver/Diagnosis Murder set.
