Cats With Frickin’ Lasers
Last night the kids and I headed back over to the Grand Coulee Dam for their free, public laser light show. They run it nightly from late spring through the summer months. It was a beautiful night to be out under the stars. As time approached, they began turning off the lights on the dam and throughout the park where we were watching.
They project the lasers against the face of the dam. Since they were flowing water, most of the dam was a current of spray from millions of gallons of water racing down the face. Talk about an awesome screen for a show to be projected on!
Through hidden speakers the narration tells the story of the Columbia River and the history of the region and the dam. It was interesting if at times a little cheesy. My son had a few comments about laser shows and 80’s synth music but he still enjoyed it. Getting good photos was a challenge, but I managed to capture a few that came out halfway decent!
I’m just sitting in a quiet motel room right now surfing away while the kids sleep in. Shortly I’ll wake them up and we’ll begin the process of getting back on the road for home. We’re going to wind out way back across Stevens Pass on Highway 2 today so I expect we’ll have a few mountain shots to share later. The weather is forecast to be sunny all the way home… can’t complain about that!

Awsome shot Mike! how cool…sounds like you guys had a fun trip. I always love your photos. I finally have a moment to breath and catch up with blogland. I’ve missed ya!

That’s so cool!

This picture is great. I would love to see this type of laser show. I swear, the science center around here will only do their laser show to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon until the end of days!
That is super cool. I can only imagine what that would be like to see it in person.
